Airlie Beach is one hell of a fun place for backpackers. Due to the fact the 95% of the people here are backpackers, it feels like Mecca. Everyone who belongs to this nation of transients must come through once in their life. From end to end the town doesn't even reach a quarter mile, but they pack about a dozen hostels, and even more bars and eateries in this small space. The central hub of the town is a very nice community pool that is an international buffet of beautiful women. I'd show pictures but somehow I was too distracted to snap any. You'll just have to trust me, it was sweet.
This is a guy from New Zealand (I've really got to start writing down people's names). He's some kind of Samoan royalty or something. Very cool guy, but his hair is too big to fit in a picture.
Our view from the dorm balcony. Pretty noisy but lots o' fun.
After three weeks Steve returned to the "real world" and his job back in San Diego. Here he is walking off into the sunset. Henceforth, I was on my own...
Next Stop: Heading north as a solo traveler. Cairns, Port Douglas, and the Queensland rain forests.
