Samuc Champey - Guatemala

Samuc Champey was a really nice surprise. This area of Guatemala has very attractive hills and this incredible waterfall with swimming holes and caves.

This part seemed a little bit risky. The guide hung a rope ladder down the waterfall, and we had to climb down, in order to get to the caves.

Nicole and I were visited by this little girl who wanted to sell chocolate. We let her play with my computer which she seemed to enjoy.

I definitely recommend Samuc Champey. It was one of the best stops on this whole trip.

Tikal Ruins - Guatemala

Livingston, Guatemala, is on the Caribbean coast. It has a large black population called the Garifuna. Check out the three wheeled car.

From Livingston we took a river boat ride up the Rio Dulce, to the town of Rio Dulce.

We made it to the city of Flores that night. This is where most people stay when they visit Tikal.

You've got to climb these unbelievably steep stairs to get to the top of this pyramid.

This maintenance worker just uses the rope.

Nice view from that high up. It's incredible that the Maya basically built a skyscraper out of rock more than 1000 years ago.

Copan - Hondorus

All the men of Copan wear these white cowboy hats. It was a very unique and relaxed town.

A few soldiers walk around the sight with M-16 assault rifles.

This is the model of what Copan looked like back when they filmed Apocalypto.

This big canvas cover protects the steps.

This was some kind of field for spectator sports.

That's one finely chiseled specimen

Copan was a cool place, but pretty small compared to our next stop, Tikal.
